I had a few articles published in a US journal with a small circulation but I wanted to get published in the mainstream media in Australia. I didn’t know how to go about it until I saw an ad in the paper for the Professional Freelance Journalism Course.

Right from the outset, I found the journalism course material easy to follow, relevant and practical. Even though I had to submit a full article early in the assessments, thanks to the tutorials and feedback from my tutor, I found the challenge achievable. As I progressed, my writing skills improved and I was able to rough-out several articles. It wasn’t long before I was pitching ideas to magazine editors and getting requests to submit articles.

Within a few months of starting the course, I had my first article published in Australian Iron Man magazine. By the time I graduated, I had another two published in the same magazine. My work now appears in it every other month and the parent company, Blitz Publications, is keen to use my article ideas in a sister magazine. I also continue to write for the US journal (MILO) and thanks to this journalism course, the quality of my work is much better.

This freelance journalism course covers everything from general grammar, style and content (developing ideas and angles) to the business of writing for a living. There’s a huge amount of printed media in Australia and plenty of opportunities for the aspiring freelancer to get quality work published. This course will help you achieve this.

Gain skills beyond journalism.

An unexpected benefit from completing The Professional Freelance Journalism Course is the employment opportunities it opens up in other occupations. Most employers require applicants to have good written communication skills as part of the job criteria. I was recently promoted into a position I’ve wanted for some time thanks to this very valuable skill.

I initially wrote articles as a hobby, but after completing this online journalism course, I’m seriously considering writing full-time. I have a physically demanding job at present, but I know there is only so long I can do it. One of the best outcomes of the journalism course, thanks to my newly acquired skills, is I don’t need to retire, ever.

In the twelve months after completing this journalism course, I’ve already earned twice the course fees. When I transition to full-time writing, I know I can get published and paid well for it. Completing this journalism course has given me the confidence to believe I can do it.
